WEDDING

Nicole and Dallas (Edmonton wedding photographer)

The beautiful wedding of Dallas and Nicole was another day where I was pretty sure when I woke up that it was going to rain–but Mother Nature proved me wrong and held off her showers for them. My brides had alot of luck this year, considering it was a very weak and late summer.

Their wedding was held at the beautiful family acreage, a gorgeous landscaped and gardened property decked out for the day. Canola fields neighboured it, and giant trees were the most amazing place to offer a backdrop to the couples formal photography. The casual hawaiian themed atmosphere was complete with a bbq roast, and tons of their close family and friends.

Congratulations to Dallas and Nicole, wishing them lifetimes of joy and happiness together!

Amanda and Dustins Wedding (Edmonton wedding photographer)

When July is supposed to be hot and sunny, this wedding was slammed during a suprise week of rain. No worries, the ceremony was held indoors! The Next Christian Community Church, St. Albert, had been a movie theatre in its past life, with a dramatic stage-like atmosphere where the ceremony was held.

After family formals inside the venue, we explored the surrounding area for the unique nooks and crannies for photography while the rain held off. In fact, it held off long enough for us to travel to a beautiful park location and visit St. Alberts downtown.

Amanda and Dustin are all about friends and family, and they had over 150 of their closest crammed into their reception hall. This bold bride was a serious fan of lilies, had decorated with black, lime green and stunning orange. Filled with love, laughter and friendship, the reception was a wonderful celebration. PS: You’ll notice there is ALOT of kissing photos…… what can I say? Dustin had fun!

Sarah & Ryan, the wedding (Edmonton wedding photographer)

I first met Sarah a few years ago, she modeled for me as a pirate. This girl just has a fabulous set of eyes. So when I heard I was going to photograph her wedding, I was really excited.

Her and her husband Ryan are so sweet together, and I knew their wedding was going to be fun. The whole event was held at the amazing Oasis Conference Centre, with an outdoor ceremony by the picturesque garden & mini waterfall. Ryan and Sarah said their own vows, starting with Ryans heartfelt speach. Sarah was so overcome by emotion, she threw her speech to the wind and said “I do.”

Tons of their quirky personality shone through in the little details, such as lime green monster heels, oreo cupcakes and the Star Wars score for the recessional. Congratulations you two, I wish you a long life of love and laughter as you grow old together.

Here is a sneak peak of Sarah and Ryan’s May wedding at the GORGEOUS Oasis Conference Centre, in west Edmonton. More story to come later!

Winter Wedding sneak peak: Nick and Stephanie (Edmonton wedding photography)

Stephanie and Nicks weddings was on one of those cold January days at the start of a ten day snowfall and super low temperatures. So much snow, like magical little floating chicken feathers everywhere. Slippery roads had the wedding running a late, but I was able to get magical images of the bride arriving through a small blizzard. After the rush of removing the snowboots and getting Stephanie into her slippers, she joined Nick at the alter for a darling ceremony. Formals were at the Citadel Theatre, Lee Pavillion, where they had amazing dramatic evening lighting.
Congratulations to them both!

Laura and Dave (Edmonton and Stony Plain Wedding Photographer)

Will it rain? Is it going to rain? The rain stopped just in time for Dave and Laura’s ceremony in Stony Plain, and held off through the formals afterwards. With lingering grey skies that have the most beautiful light and spots of sun shining through. ……now, enough about the weather! Its winter now and I am missing all the greenery.

Laura and Dave are a SUCH a sweet and vibrant couple,  (Laura is the sweet one, Dave is the vibrant), full of smiles and laughs from both of them. You can tell their wedding party was a close bunch of friends who loved them. Everything was kept close to the church in Stony Plain. Family formals nearby at a Shikaoi Park, and formals with the bridal party at Dog Rump Park. OK, I get a serious giggle typing that, (truly the funniest named park ever!).

But, Dog Rump Park is a great little walkaround with a ton of places for photography spots. And the playground matched the bridesmaids dresses and Laura’s HOT orange shoes.

Congratulations to Laura and Dave, and thank you so much for having me be part of your day, it was truly beautiful.

Engagement session (Edmonton Engagement Photographer)

I do get to meet alot of cool people in my job. I love working for happy people two, which is something that hopefully a photographer gets to do everytime they have a photosession. And Sarah and Ryan are definately an awesome couple. I could tell that Ryan wasnt too sure to be behind the camera himself, and Sarah is not only a burlesque performer but a model and is amazingly talented. The two of them were so easy to work with and willing to even do the silly photos as well as the pretty picturesque ones. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding!

Blackbird Photography Edmonton weddings: Anna and Dan

Anna and Dans wedding was just fabulous. First of all, the forcast was for nothing but rain (well, on most weather channels). Edmonton was hit by a haze of smoke from the BC forest fires, but that actually made for wonderful diffused light in the images.

We started with informal formal photography outside the Muttart Conservatory – such a beautiful park and gardens there. The ceremony and reception site were the same place, Whitemud Creek Community Centre. (awesome location!)

The weather kept holding mild and bright, and a bit hazy, a perfect soft light for the ceremony, which was held on the outdoor patio overlooking the pond. I love the fact that they had someone read from Dr. Seuss during the ceremony! It really shows what fun people they are, and so sweet that even I was crying with the crowd (Thank goodness no one can see because I get to hide that behind my camera, ha ha!)

Just because I LOVE the images of this wedding, here are more (click on the images to see larger):

Blackbird Photography presents: Corinne & Josef’s Slocan BC wedding (Edmonton and BC wedding Photographer)

This calgary couple Corinne and Josef had their wedding in Slocan, a tiny mountain town near Nelson, British Columbia, where they both grew up.

The wedding was absolutely darling, held under a family built gazebo with tulle draping, surrounded by garden and flowers. Formals were taken on a cliff rock area that overlooked the mountains, river and town of Slocan. The reception was held in the lovely backyard of Corinne’s family home with tents and string lighting.

Congratulations to the lovely couple, and wishing you a thousand lifetimes of happiness!
